Siuslaw Track and Field standout Hayden Schaffner is Coast Radio Sports’ Athlete of the week.  He ran the 3rd fastest time in school history to win the 400 meters at the Wally Ciochetti Invitational, running a personal best time of 50.66 seconds.  Later in the evening, he topped that time in the anchor leg of the 4 x 400 relayhelping the team to a 2nd place finish… and the 2nd fastest time in school history at 3:24.79.  Schaffner’s unofficial time of 49.33 seconds in his leg will not go in the books.

Honorable mention is given to softball standout Sadie Wells who was 4-for-4 at the plate with two doubles, three runs scored and three stolen bases in the Vikings’ season ending, extra-inning win over North Bend.

 

Oregon State Baseball remains ranked at number six nationally following a weekend sweep of number 25 Stanford.  Oregon moved up two spots to number eight.  The Ducks will host Gonzaga for the first of two non-conference matchups at PK Park this evening in Eugene.
