SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Willamette University has suspended a fraternity for an investigation of online comments that degraded women. The Statesman Journal reports 12 members were kicked out of the Salem chapter of the Sigma Chi fraternity after the posts became public.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama is in Oregon through Saturday. He’s giving two speeches in Portland and delivering a public lecture Friday at the University of Oregon in Eugene. The visit is hosted by Maitripa College, a Buddhist institution in southeast Portland.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – The Oregon House has advanced a bill that would allow some teenagers convicted of having sex with underage partners to erase the crime from their records. The bill passed in a narrow 31 to 27 vote yesterday. It now goes to the Senate.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – More than a third of Oregon’s national merit scholars live in a single Portland-area Zip code. The Oregonian reports that 10 of the 27 new scholars live in the wealthy area north of Beaverton where many Intel employees have homes.
