Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Police are looking for a woman who robbed three markets in Salem in a little more than an hour. Police say she displayed a handgun and demanded cash, but only got money from one of the stores. The robber is described as a white woman in her late 20s or early 30s with a medium heavy build and long dark hair dyed a maroon color in a ponytail.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Several cars burned at a southeast Portland car towing lot late last night. Fire and rescue officials say an electric fence was an added hazard. Extra firefighters were called because of limited fire hydrant availability. No injuries. No word yet on the cause or a damage estimate.

ALBANY, Ore. (AP) – Police in Albany say squatters are taking up residence in local unoccupied homes and it’s likely a sign of the economy. Linn County law enforcement officers tell the Albany Democrat-Herald that more homes are vacant lately and they’re getting more reports of squatting, vandalism and thefts.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – Officials in Eugene are taking steps to stop an invasive water plant from spreading from a city park. The aquatic weed Ludwigia hexapetala (lood-WIG’-ee-ah hex-ah-pet-AL’-a) is a South American creeping water primrose. For several years it has grown fast and dense at Delta Ponds north of Valley River Center. The Register-Guard reports city officials as part of a restoration effort built ditches and culverts so the Willamette River could flow in and out of the ponds. They now worry that the weed will be carried out.
