Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press

GRESHAM, Ore. (AP) – The Gresham-Barlow School District says it has reached a tentative settlement with an elementary school principal who says he was ousted from his job for revealing that he is gay. The district says as part of an agreement reached this week Tom Klansnic will go on paid leave for the rest of the school year. Today is his last day at North Gresham Elementary School where he has been principal for a decade.

LEWISTON, Idaho (AP) – Police in northern Idaho say an Oregon man has died after falling from a second-story deck at a home in Lewiston. Lewiston police say 42-year-old Timothy Yahtin of Warm Springs died last night from head and neck injuries after the 12-foot fall. Police tell the Lewiston Tribune that Yahtin went onto the deck during a gathering of friends, and that another individual later found him at the bottom of the railing. They say there’s no sign of foul play.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – The Eugene City Council has voted in favor of allowing the homeless to camp overnight on some city property, but not parks. The Register-Guard reports the vote will lead to a proposed ordinance for a four-month test. The homeless also would be allowed to camp on church property or private property with the permission of owners.

PRINEVILLE, Ore. (AP) – The Crook County sheriff’s office says a 73-year-old Prineville man was robbed at his home and left tied up so tightly his injured hands nearly needed to be amputated. Officers went to the home last night after a state trooper stopped his car in Redmond because the 20-year-old driver was driving with the lights out.
