Siuslaw softball standout Ashlee Cole is Coast Radio Sports’ Athlete of the week.  The junior catcher was five-for-six at the plate in a split double-header against South Umpqua last week.  Cole went three-for-three in game two with two home runs, six RBI and a sacrifice.

Honorable mention goes to junior middle-distance runner Katelyn Wells who posted the tenth fastest time ever at Siuslaw in the girls 800 meter, bettering her own previous record by more than 8 seconds to take six overall at the Jim Robinson Twilight meet with a time of 2:25.4.

Prep Diamonds

Field conditions have moved today’s scheduled Far West baseball matchup between the Siuslaw Vikings and the Douglas Trojans to tomorrow… Softball between the Vikings and the Trojans in Winston will be played today however.

College Baseball

The Oregon Ducks jumped to number ten in the polls this week… they’ll face the Pilots today at the University of Portland for non-conference baseball…. The Pilots will host number five Oregon State tomorrow.

Track Volunteers Sought

The Central Coast Track and Field Invitational is set for Florence a week from Friday… Siuslaw Track and Field coach Chris Johnson is actively seeking volunteers from the community to help out.  Johnson says 12 different teams of varying size will be participating.  He’ll need more than 40 volunteers to help out with a variety of tasks.  Johnson says anyone interested in helping out can contact him by calling the high school.
