Katy Potter swept the girls 800 and 15-hundred meters; Matthew Campbell did the same on the boys’ side and both teams finished second overall at the 13-team Junction City Invitational Saturday.  Potter’s time in the 800 was her fastest ever by nearly four seconds and the fifth fastest in the 4A ranks this year.  Her 15-hundred was the second fastest so far this season.

Other individual winners for the Viking girls included Alex Dodson in the 100-meter hurdles.

For the boys it was Hayden Schaffner in the 400; Brian Schofield in the three-thousand; and Billy Jones in the Pole Vault.  The boys four-by-400 relay team of Campbell, Schaffner, Schofield and Mack Marbas won with a time of 3:37.7.

Number Six Oregon State claimed the final game and rubber match in a three-game Pac-12 series yesterday against UCLA with a 5-2 win.  The Beavers dropped the opener Friday afternoon 3-2 then rebounded for a five run shutout win Saturday.  The results bring the Beavers to 7-2 in conference play; 25-5 overall with a half game lead over Oregon in first place.

Number 24 Arizona State claimed two of three from number 11 Oregon over the weekend.  The Sun Devils won the first game 6-5 in 11 innings then Saturday’s game 14-9.  The Ducks flew back for a 16-3 win yesterday.  Oregon had at least one hit from each starter and improves to 9-3 in the Pac-12… 23-8 overall.

 

Oregon and Oregon State meet for a non-conference midweek matchup tomorrow in Corvallis.
