LINCOLN CITY, Ore. (AP) – A man suspected of killing his grandparents in their Renton, Wash., home is hospitalized in serious condition after being captured in an Oregon seaside motel room. Authorities say Michael Boysen was taken to a Portland hospital for treatment of what are described as self-inflicted cuts. Police in Lincoln City stormed the motel room yesterday after a daylong standoff.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The Coast Guard says it needs more information before it can consider a permit for the proposed new Interstate 5 bridge over the Columbia River between Portland and Vancouver. According to the Oregonian, Rear Adm. K.A. Taylor says the agency can’t start a public comment period until managers assess economic impacts on the Columbia River navigation channel.

CRATER LAKE, Ore. (AP) – The federal budget cuts are threating snow plowing at Crater Lake National Park. Acting Superintendent Vicki Snitzer says the park has to cut 5 percent from its $5 million budget, and one place being considered is the snowplowing budget. Springtime plowing usually begins in May to open park roads for the season.

LAKE OSWEGO, Ore. (AP) – A teenage driver backed an SUV into a Lake Oswego restaurant, damaging the front porch and entry way but causing only one minor injury. A fire official says there were nine customers in the small restaurant yesterday afternoon. Casa Del Pollo owner Jorge Zuniga says he’s very glad nobody was sitting near the front door.
