Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press

LINCOLN CITY, Ore. (AP) – A Washington state man suspected of killing his grandparents has been captured in an Oregon seaside motel room and sent to a Portland hospital for treatment of what are described as serious self-inflicted cuts. Lincoln City Police Chief Keith Kilian says police who stormed a motel room after a daylong standoff yesterday found Michael Boysen lying on his back on the floor with apparently self-inflicted cuts. He was wanted in the Saturday killings of Robert and Norma Taylor.

LAKE OSWEGO, Ore. (AP) – A fire official in Lake Oswego says a teenage driver backed an SUV into a restaurant, damaging the front porch and entry way but causing only one minor injury. Deputy Fire Marshal Gert Zoutendijk says there were only nine customers in the small restaurant yesterday afternoon. One suffered a minor arm injury. Casa Del Pollo owner Jorge Zuniga says he’s glad nobody was sitting near the front door. Zoutendijk says the driver hit the building “at a significant speed.”

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The Boy Scouts of America is surveying its volunteers and employees across the U.S. on the question of allowing gays in Scouting. The Irving, Texas-based Scouts last year publicly reaffirmed its ban on gays from the organization. Behind the scenes, though, the Scouts privately convened a committee to determine whether the ban should be modified or lifted. That change could come in May, when a resolution will be put before the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America to decide whether to keep, modify or rescind the gay ban. A survey has been emailed to 1.1 million adult Scouts.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – Oregon officials say bargaining with landlords over state office space is about to get hard-nosed. The Salem Statesman Journal says consultants estimate the state could save tens of millions if it bargained better for rental space. A 24-member state group of state agency leaders called the Enterprise Leadership Team has sent a memo to state agencies telling them to stop whatever lease negotiations are in progress. The state leases about 1.2 million square feet of office space in Salem.
