SALEM, Ore. (AP) – A 20-year-old skateboarder faces a charge of driving under the influence after a collision with a van yesterday in Salem. The Statesman Journal reports Jacob Becker was knocked about 20 feet and suffered a skull fracture. He was not wearing a helmet. Becker was cited for driving under the influence of intoxicants.

GRANTS PASS, Ore. (AP) – A California company has until the end of the month to decide if it still wants to develop the Port of Coos Bay to ship coal mined in Montana and Wyoming to Asia. Two other potential partners in the project have dropped out. Metro Ports renewed its exclusive agreement with the port last week.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – An organization that bills itself as the nation’s largest Latino civil rights and advocacy group is establishing a base in Oregon. The League of United Latin American Citizens says it has received calls from young people in Eugene who stand to benefit from the federal DREAM Act,

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – A Vancouver, Wash., man told police he was driving with flashing police lights on the roof of his car because he wanted to catch up with friends while driving on an interstate in Oregon. Police pulled over the 27-year-old man for weaving through traffic. His 12-year-old son was in the passenger seat.
