PACIFIC, Wash. (AP) – It’s been nearly three years since Kyron Horman disappeared from a Portland school where his stepmother says she dropped him off. An age-progression photo to show what he would look like now has been released in a poster from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The poster will get added publicity by being displayed on the Gordon Trucking fleet of trucks in Washington and Oregon. No arrests have been made in Kyron’s disappearance. His mother, Desiree Young, is suing the stepmother, Terri Horman, seeking a court order to force her to say what happened to him.
PRINEVILLE, Ore. (AP) – The Crook County sheriff’s office says a fire and rescue unit used extraction tools to free a woman from the wreckage of her car last night on O’Neil Highway. The 51-year-old Madras woman was airlifted to St. Charles Hospital in Bend. The sheriff’s office says the crash was caused by the right rear wheel coming off the car.
SALEM, Ore. (AP) – The Oregon Republican Party will get a new leader next weekend who will get to take a fresh stab at putting the party on a path back to relevance. Five candidates are running for chairman of the state GOP, and attention has focused largely on three of them: A former two-time congressional candidate from southern Oregon, a two-time legislative candidate from Portland and the Clackamas County GOP chairman.
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – The Oregon Research Institute in Eugene has settled into a new headquarters after a decade-long quest. The Register-Guard reports the non-profit behavioral research firm and its roughly 200 employees have moved into a $17 million, four-story building at Riverfront Research Park. Founded in Eugene 53 years ago, the institute conducts behavioral studies funded mainly by the federal National Institutes of Health.
