Local Sports – Civil War; Duck Basketball; Beaver Basketball and prep football

Taking a look at Coast Radio Sports…

Oregon’s wide open and productive offense combined with six Beaver turnovers Saturday afternoon leaving Oregon State wondering what happened as the Ducks claimed their sixth straight football Civil War, 48-24 in Corvallis.  Sean Mannion threw four interceptions and De’Anthony Thomas rushed for 198 yards and three touchdowns.  Kenjon Barner had two touchdowns and 122 yards before leaving the game early in the second quarter with an injury.  Oregon ended the season ranked fifth in the BCS and will likely be an ‘at large’ BCS entry in the Fiesta Bowl.  Oregon State will face Nicholls State this Saturday to wrap up the regular season.

On the basketball court… The Oregon Men held off Nevada-Las Vegas Friday night for an 83-79 win in the Global Sports Challenge.  The Ducks then fell short Saturday night in the final game of the tourney, losing to Cincinnati 77-66.

In Corvallis yesterday, Oregon State senior Joe Burton had a career game with 21 points and ten rebounds as the Beavers bounced Montana State 78-65.

Turning to 4A football… it’s going to be an all Bulldog final this coming Saturday in Hillsboro for the State Championship game.  North Bend beat Ontario 29-8 in one 4A semi final game Saturday… the Baker Bulldogs edged Cascade 35-29 in triple-overtime to claim the other final spot.
