PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The state Department of Transportation has issued a traffic advisory for the four-day Thanksgiving weekend due to wet roads and the chance for snow and ice in the mountain passes. Spokesman Don Hamilton says motorists should remember to keep some extra room between their vehicle and the one ahead since wet roads mean more stopping distance. Some areas still have standing water from Monday’s storm and Interstate 5 might be clogged Saturday because of the Civil War football game in Corvallis.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Police say they made an arrest in a southwest Portland bank robbery after the robber tried unsuccessfully to carjack two cars, then ran away. A police spokesman says officers responded yesterday afternoon to a report of a robber armed with a handgun who held up a U.S. Bank branch, then ran from the bank and tried to steal a getaway car.

MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – Jackson County Sheriff Mike Winters says he’s embarrassed a bank robber was able to get out of his jail. Authorities said yesterday they’re still looking for 42-year-old Bradley William Monical. Winters said Monical stood on the shoulders of another inmate Monday, removed part of a roof covering and leaped into a tree. The Medford Mail Tribune reports the tree, and several nearby, have been cut down, and the roof material is being replaced.

MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – The investigation of bomb threats at Oregon’s county courthouses isn’t yet a federal case. The FBI tells the Medford Mail Tribune it’s not investigating, despite the similarity to recent spates of threats in Washington state and Nebraska. FBI spokeswoman Beth Anne Steele says it has offered assistance, but the case is being handled by state and local investigators so far.
