DETROIT (AP) – Matthew Stafford threw a 1-yard touchdown pass to Titus Young with 20 seconds left, lifting the Detroit Lions to a 28-24 win over the Seattle Seahawks yesterday. Zach Miller made a spectacular, 16-yard catch on a toss from Russell Wilson with 5:27 left to put the Seahawks ahead. But Seattle couldn’t stop the Lions on their last possession. Stafford led a 16-play drive that started at the Detroit 20 with 5:27 remaining.

UNDATED (AP) – Now Notre Dame is an ahead of Oregon in the BCS standings. The Fighting Irish became the latest team to move past Oregon yesterday, taking third place behind Alabama and Kansas State. The Ducks remained fourth. Florida fell out of the top five with a 17-9 loss to Georgia, helping to set the field in the race for the BCS title game with a month to go in the regular season. Alabama is locked in at No. 1, and if the Crimson Tide keep winning they will play for their third championship in four years.

CARSON, Calif. (AP) – Mike Magee scored on a pass from Robbie Keane in the 83rd minute, and the Los Angeles Galaxy hurt Seattle’s playoff position with a 1-0 victory over the Sounders last night in the MLS regular-season finale. Josh Saunders also earned his ninth shutout for the defending league champion Galaxy, who got a late goal from a veteran substitute to win a game with much more importance for Seattle. Los Angeles already was locked into fourth place in the Western Conference.
