Here is the latest Washington, Oregon and Alaska sports news from The Associated Press

SEATTLE (AP) – Shavonte Zellous’ buzzer-beating 3-pointer capped Indiana’s closing 15-0 run and lifted the Fever to a 68-66 victory over the Seattle Storm last night. Tamika Catchings had 18 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Fever, who trailed by 13 with 4:04 to go. Briann January added 11 points and Zellous finished with 10. Camille Little scored 15 points to lead Seattle.

SEATTLE (AP) – For much of his first two seasons as manager of the Seattle Mariners, Eric Wedge has preached exactly what his team has practiced over the past month. The Mariners are coming off sweeps of Minnesota and Cleveland at home. They’ve won a season-high eight straight games – their longest winning streak since 2007 – and have the best record in baseball since the All-Star break at 25-13. Seattle has also won 15 of 16 home games after being 11 games below .500 at home in July.

BEAVER CREEK, Colo. (AP) – Germany’s Jens Voigt won the rainy fourth stage of the USA Pro Challenge yesterday, while Tejay Van Garderen regained his tiebreaker edge for the overall lead. Van Garderen, the BMC rider from Tacoma, Wash., finished third – just behind German’s Andreas Kloden of RadioShack-Nissan – and regained the race lead from Christian Vande Velde.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – Kenjon Barner is quick to say that he is no LaMichael James. And he doesn’t want to be. Barner takes over this season as the top running back for Oregon now that James has moved on to the San Francisco 49ers. He says he’s ready to establish his own legacy with the Ducks – separate from the one-two punch he formed with James the past two seasons.
