Local Sports – Emeralds and Ducks

The Eugene Emeralds edged to just a game behind the Vancouver Canadians with a 7-5 win at Everett over the Aqua Sox last night.  Felix Cabrera, playing with the Emeralds on a rehab assignment, seems to be recovering just fine… he and Gabriel Quintana each hit their first home runs of the season and drove in three runs to help out.  The Emeralds took two of three games in Everett from the Aqua Sox… they head to Tri Cities today where they’ll begin a five game series before returning to PK Park Monday against Salem Keizer.

Oregon football fans will have a chance to meet their favorite Duck this Saturday afternoon during Fan Day at Autzen Stadium.  The east parking lot at Autzen opens at 10:30 Saturday morning with the gates to Autzen opening at noon.  Fans will get to meet players and take part in an assortment of interactive activities.  Because of the anticipated demand, only one autographed item per fan will be allowed and officials say players will leave the stadium “promptly” at two p.m.  There’s no cost to attend, but the 2012 Spirit T-shirts to benefit the Oregon Marching Band will be on sale for eight dollars.
