BEND, Ore. (AP) – An Oregon Army National Guard helicopter from Salem rescued an injured climber late last night from a glacier on North Sister. Deschutes County deputies say a 46-year-old Portland man fell about 200 feet and a climbing partner helped him back to their camp, where the copter hoisted him aboard for a flight to St. Charles Hospital in Bend. His injuries are described as non-life-threatening.

ASHLAND, Ore. (AP) – Oregon State Police say they’ve seized 55 pounds of cocaine valued at nearly $1 million from a car stopped on Interstate 5 for a traffic violation. A Southern California man driving the car was arrested during the seizure south of Ashland yesterday morning. Police arrested Israel Mendez-Gonzalez.

MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – Mountain bikers believe a man arrested by a Forest Service officer is the person responsible for sabotaging trails on Mount Ashland with ropes and fallen logs, causing crashes. Ashland Mountain Adventures owner Bill Roussel tells the Mail Tribune he spotted the man Sunday just before he ran into a log dragged across the trail. He saw other logs that were apparently placed to obstruct mountain bikers.

MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) – Bail is set at $3 million for a Central Point woman accused of leaving the scene of a collision in Medford that killed a man and injured several others. Leta Schroeder is facing manslaughter, reckless driving and hit-run charges. The van was carrying a seven-man reforestation crew.
