Local Sports – Emeralds Fall Short; Sandblasters Fight the Weather

Your Place For Local Sports

The Eugene Emeralds wrapped up a five game series in Boise yesterday with a wild 14-11 loss to the Hawks.  Boise led by nine going into the ninth inning and the Emeralds put together a rally, but fell short to even their record at five-and-five on the season.  The loss also handed the series to Boise 3-2.  The Emeralds will be in Keizer this evening where they’ll open up a three game series against the Volcanoes.

Field conditions got the better of the Three Rivers Sandblasters over the weekend, prompting a delay in the scheduled Saturday meeting against the Withnell Dodgers… Two games will be made up later in the season.  Meanwhile, the ‘Blasters will make another try on the diamond this afternoon at Jiggs Dodson Field in Florence where they’re scheduled for two against the Eugene Challengers… the first game is set for 3:45.  Both games, if they get them in, will air on Coast Radio Sports beginning at 3:30.
