EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – Arguments are scheduled today in Eugene on a motion to release a man charged in the firebombing of a mosque in Corvallis as he awaits trial. Cody Crawford referred to himself as a Christian warrior after his arrest in the November 2010 firebombing that damaged an office. He was indicted on charges of using fire to commit a felony and damaging religious property for racial reasons, which is a hate crime.

HILLSBORO, Ore. (AP) – A man who was found mentally incompetent to stand trial in a Forest Grove slaying could be discharged from a hospital with no notification to authorities. A judge dismissed the case of Yovane Muro last week, saying he was unfit to stand trial. The Oregonian reports that privacy laws may prevent mental health workers from disclosing even to prosecutors if Muro is released.

NORTH BEND, Ore. (AP) – The Coast Guard was called out overnight to rescue three people from an overturned fishing boat near Winchester Bay. When the chopper from North Bend arrived, the three were clinging to the boat’s hull. The three were taken to shore by a motor lifeboat in good condition.

BAKER CITY, Ore. (AP) – Oregon State Police are investigating a fatal collision involving a pickup truck and two motorcycles near Baker City yesterday afternoon.
