Athlete of the Week

Siuslaw track and field standout Jacob Egan is Coast Radio Sports’ Athlete of the Week.  Competing at the 13-team Wally Ciochetti Invitational in Cottage Grove he finished 2nd overall in the 300-meter hurdles with a personal best time of 42.27 seconds.  Honorable mention is given to freshman pole vaulter Billy Jones who cleared the bar at 13-feet, 7-inches on the way to winning the pole vault.

Baseball and Softball Play-ins

Play in game times and dates have been set for Siuslaw baseball and softball… the Girls will be on the road Friday to Klamath Falls where they’ll face the number one ranked Henley Hornets at 4:00.  Viking baseball will be at home Friday afternoon against Hidden Valley at three.  Admission costs will be five-dollars for adults, three-dollars for students… student body and senior citizen cards will not be valid.  You can hear the game on Coast Radio Sports with the pregame show beginning at 2:45.

Rhododendron Rugby

Here’s something new for the Rhododendron Festival… a three-way rugby tournament is set for Saturday afternoon at Hans Peterson Field.  Teams from Monmouth, Coos Bay and Corvallis will be competing beginning at 2:00.  Admission will cost one-dollar and concessions will be available.  Proceeds to the Siuslaw Athletic Booster Club’s Ian Foster Fund.
