Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press

OAKRIDGE, Ore. (AP) – Oregon environmental officials say there’s
no health risk to people or animals after a March 12 fuel spill of
more than 5,000 gallons along Highway 58 west of Oakridge. A tanker
truck and trailer hauling fuel for Cascade Petroleum Transportation
crashed. The DEQ says more than 3,000 gallons of fuel have been
recovered and about 1,500 cubic yards of soil have been removed.
The crash site is near a creek and pond area that flows into the
Middle Fork Willamette River.

OREGON CITY, Ore. (AP) – Highway officials say Highway 213 has
reopened after a four-day closure to install a new bridge in Oregon
City. Workers finished striping and other last-minute work last
night about four hours ahead of schedule. The bridge is part of the
Jughandle Project to improve a stretch of the highway between I-205
and Oregon City that is heavily used by commuters.

COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. (AP) – The mayor of the Willamette Valley
city of Cottage Grove says he’ll step down when his term ends in
December — after 12 years on the job. Mayor Gary Williams said at
last night’s City Council meeting that this is a good time to turn
the mayor’s office over to someone else. The Register-Guard reports
that elected officials in Cottage Grove are unpaid and not subject
to term limits.

EAGLE POINT, Ore. (AP) – Jackson County authorities are calling
the deaths of a man and woman at a rural home near Eagle Point a
murder-suicide. The sheriff’s office reports relatives say Liesa
Werner had recently broken off a relationship with a man from
Eureka, Calif. Deputies say Werner was found dead Sunday with a
single gunshot wound and Eugene Koch was found in the home dead of
a self-inflicted gunshot.
