EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – A Lane County judge is deciding whether to
allow a lawsuit brought by two girls against Gov. John Kitzhaber,
accusing him of failing to protect the state’s resources against
climate change. Judge Karsten Rasmussen heard arguments yesterday
and says he’ll take a few days before deciding on the state’s
request to dismiss the lawsuit. The Register-Guard reports the suit
was filed in by two Eugene girls aged 11 and 15, with the help of
their mothers and money from an environmental group as part of a
national campaign.

presence on the Linfield College campus after a recent kidnapping
and robbery. A student says she was forced into a van the night of
Jan. 14 and released about 10 or 15 blocks away. Last Wednesday a
student says he was pushed to the ground and robbed. KGW reports
police believe the cases may be connected.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – A federal jury has ruled against a Eugene
police sergeant in a video recording case. The jury ruled yesterday
that Sgt. Bill Solesbee used excessive force in arresting
environmental activist Josh Schlossberg and violated his
constitutional rights during a confrontation in March 2009 outside
a bank. The Register-Guard reports the jury awarded Schlossberg
nearly $6,000 in damages

PENDLETON, Ore. (AP) – State Sen. David Nelson of Pendleton says
he’s not running for a fifth term. Since 1996, he has represented
the 29th District, which includes Umatilla, Morrow, Union and
