Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press
WILSONVILLE, Ore. (AP) – The Yamhill County sheriff’s office is
trying to determine whether there was a second person on a plane
that crashed after a midair collision south of Portland. One plane
made an emergency landing yesterday in Champoeg State Park with two
people avoiding injury. The second plane crashed and disintegrated.
One body was recovered. The search resumes today as investigators
trial to nail down reports of a second person on board.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Portland police have instituted new rules
for making sure beanbag shotguns are loaded only with beanbag
rounds, not live ammunition. That directive was made yesterday amid
a grand jury review of an officer’s June 30 wounding of a man with
live ammunition fired from a beanbag weapon.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Crews are preparing to blast a hole in
the 99-year-old Condit Dam on Washington’s White Salmon River.
Portland-based utility PacifiCorp is removing the dam after
deciding it would be too costly to add fish ladders for salmon and
steelhead. The dam sits 3 miles upstream of the river’s confluence
with the Columbia River in Washington’s south Cascades.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Oregon State Police have opened trooper
recruiting to online applications, weeks after a round of physical
fitness tests proved too tough for dozens of hopefuls. In just six
hours, the agency attracted 800 applicants for as many as 45 jobs,
although some were left over from last year’s recruitment. Senior
Trooper Scott Hite said 38 applicants showed up last month for
physical fitness testing, but only 14 passed.
