Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press
EUGENE, Ore. (AP) – A former Wells Fargo Bank assistant branch
manager in Coos Bay has been sentenced to nearly six years in
prison for stealing from customers. The U.S. Attorney said Shawna
Leimomi Saia was also ordered to pay more than $625,000 in
restitution. Saia pleaded guilty to bank fraud last May, admitting
that several of her victims were vulnerable due to their age or
medical condition or because they relied on her as a “personal
banker.”

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Prosecutors in Portland have dismissed
rape and sex abuse charges against one of two Washington
state-based soldiers accused in an alleged attack on two teenage
girls in a hotel room. The Oregonian reports that charges were
dismissed Monday against Sgt. Timothy Hartbeck. Fellow soldier
Stephan James Bardos is due back in court today on allegations of
first-degree rape and first-degree sodomy. Both soldiers are
stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

RIDDLE, Ore. (AP) – There’s still no sign of a Portland man who
vanished from an encampment of the Cycle Oregon bicycle tour last
Friday night. The Oregonian says the number of volunteers has
dropped from the 100-plus who spent two days in the Riddle area,
but Kelly Bosworth, one of 54-year-old Mark Bosworth’s daughters,
says a few decided to remain overnight.

UMATILLA, Ore. (AP) – Public health authorizes in Eastern Oregon
say a school-age child has come down with whooping cough. KNDU
reports Umatilla County health officials say the diagnosis came
from the western end of the county at the beginning of the month.
The child had been in school before the diagnosis. Family members
have been treated with antibiotics.
