Here is the latest Oregon news from The Associated Press
OREGON CITY, Ore. (AP) – An Oregon judge will decide who is
responsible for paying about $26,000 in medical bills that piled up
after the state took custody of the young daughter of two members
of a faith-healing church. Timothy and Rebecca Wyland were
convicted in June of criminal mistreatment for failing to get
medical care for their daughter. They were sentenced to 90 days in
jail.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) – If you’re in arrears on your Oregon state
taxes, you could wind up paying more than just interest and
penalties. The Oregon Department of Revenue says you might also be
paying fees to a private collection company. The agency says the
Legislature looked for savings this year and found $415,000 in the
department’s budget – fees the state paid last year when it sent
tax debts out for collection. As of Oct. 1, taxpayers who want to
avoid collection fees should pay up by then. The agency says the
fees could amount to 67 percent of the debt.

UNDATED (AP) – Yet another wildfire has erupted in Oregon, this
one in timber at the crest of the Cascades outside Sisters. Fire
officials say the Shadow Lake fire has burned about 350 acres,
mostly in the Mount Washington Wilderness. The fire has been slowed
by burning in an area that burned in 2007. Firefighters are close
to containing Oregon’s biggest wildfire, a 45,000-acre blaze in
rangeland west of Fossil.

BROOKINGS, Ore. (AP) – Oregon State Police say human remains
have been found in a motorhome heavily damaged by fire in a remote
area of southern Oregon. Authorities found the smoldering remains
of the motorhome early yesterday on state land along the Chetco
River east of Brookings. Detectives will be working with the state
medical examiner’s office to identify that person.
