Here is the latest Washington, Oregon and Alaska news from The
Associated Press

RENTON, Wash. (AP) – Seattle Seahawks left tackle Russell Okung
has returned to practice in limited fashion with coach Pete Carroll
saying Okung is one or two weeks away. Okung was in a helmet and
shoulder pads for yesterday’s practice, doing work in individual
drills just a week after injuring his left ankle. Okung was hurt in
the first series last Thursday night in Seattle’s preseason opener
at San Diego. It’s unclear if he’ll be ready for the regular season
opener Sept. 11.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) – Receiver Percy Harvin and tight end Visanthe
Shiancoe are among the Minnesota Vikings who will be held out of
Saturday’s preseason game at Seattle. Harvin hasn’t practiced much
this week because of a rib injury and Shiancoe is still working on
a pulled hamstring that kept him out of the preseason opener. Right
guard Anthony Herrera and cornerback Asher Allen also will miss the
game. Herrera is healing from a torn ACL and Allen has a toe
injury. And receiver Greg Camarillo will not play because of a
groin injury.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – Newly enshrined Hall of Famer Arvydas
Sabonis was taken aback by the cheers he garnered at a downtown
rally in his honor, telling fans he was appreciative that they
remembered him. Sabonis visited Portland this week after he was
inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame last
Friday. The 7-foot-3 Lithuanian center was a star in Europe before
coming to the NBA at age 31 to play for Portland.

NORTH PLAINS, Ore. (AP) – Following the Women’s British Open,
Suzann Pettersen returned again to her native Norway to join in the
healing process after the horrific attacks on July 22 left 77 dead
and shook her homeland. Pettersen has been humbled in the face of
the tragedy and she’s amazed at how her fellow Norwegians have come
together. Pettersen is in Oregon taking part in the LPGA Safeway
Classic at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club.
